Crimson and Vermilion

_

I saw her as I saw myself
In the truest sense
Juxtaposed, in prose
Over cloves of steeping jasmine
Unfolding to eddied debris
She and me
Kept in the company of coffee rings
An overabundance of empathy
For inanimate things
We sat in a quiet
That for once
In our goddamn lives
Didn’t frighten us
She was rose hips and halo hair
Inked directional solitaires
Just a garnet-hearted girl
By fate, lovingly placed
In proximity
Of my emerald gaze
She and me
All things
Crimson and vermilion
Goldenrod and camellia
We sat in a vacancy
That for once
In our splendid, goddamn lives
Didn’t spill over, like tea
On the contrary
It was simply
She and me
Our porcelain hearts
And their filigree

    1. Thank you my sweet friend. This poem is a testimony to feminine energy and the empowerment felt in nurturing that connection. Hearing from brilliant women such as yourself in response is so flattering. Merci, merci ♥️🫀

  1. Wow, that was so beautiful. I actually started reading it and then would stop to read it from the beginning all over again several times to make sure I was absorbing the magnificence of this poem. It has such a incredible aura to it, I wasn’t sure I was able to capture it all in one mere reading so I’d stop and start again. Gorgeous ♥️😍

    1. Larisa… As always your feedback has *me* in complete awe. I am always so humbled and positively giddy every single time you read and respond to my work. It’s an incredibly rare thing to find someone like you – such an intelligent and poignant creature – and I am beyond grateful to have your acquaintance. I think our poetry resonates with one another because on some intense, soulful level we drawn to the same beautiful dreamworlds. I thought of you several times when composing this. Our mutual affection for gardens, for lace and the divine feminine connection. So to have you respond with such praise makes me feel electric. I thank you, wholeheartedly, for wrapping yourself in these visions. Yours have equally intoxicating properties. As do you. 💌
