Hello, hello…

Behold, little darlings, my newest lo-fi aesthetic video collage set to the beautiful (and achingly romantic) track ‘Dreary Moon’ by Big Black Delta.

This one is so very special to me. I’ve included various nods to places, scenes and beings that have inspired me over the years:

Record players. Flowers. Johnny Cash. Spirals. Storms. The Wizard of Oz. Lauren Bacall. Symbolist, Surrealist and Pop art. Neon. Marlene Dietrich. Devastating intellect. Video games. Musicals. Femme fatales. Kodachrome. Birds. Delirium. Vintage advertisements. Stevie Nicks. Sensuality. Hauntings. Metropolis. Alice in Wonderland. Sam Cooke. Foxes. Japanese Animation. Horror. Carousels. Paul Newman. Americana. Mythology. Existential dread. Motorcycles. Psychology. Cinematography. Dreams. David Bowie. Metaphor. Hypnosis. Bohemia. Rebellion. Poetry. Silent film.

And (perhaps) most of all — the moonPlease do lose yourself in its labyrinths…

Dreary moon
Out my window
Hello, hello…
To you
I concede
Every meaning
With you
With me
Dreary moon
Out my window
Hello, hello…
To you
I can see
Every meaning
With you
With me
An evolution
The only way
I can explain anything
From loving you
Always
A heavy burden
The holy way
I can escape anything
But loving you
Always
An evolution
The only way
I can explain anything
From loving you
Always
A heavy burden
A holy way
I can escape anything
But loving you

  1. Such a beautiful song, April. Somewhere between Kubrick and Roxy Music. Love it. Your inspirations are very close to mine – nearly all of them. Bacall in “The Big Sleep” with too much red wine is a favorite.

    1. Oh Rob, thank you! I thought of you at multiple stages of this videos creation. We seem to have a lot of similar if not identical influences, especially with regard to music and film. So refreshing that I can create these and know it will be understood and appreciated. ❤

    1. Charlie! You give me a hundred reasons to smile every minute of the day. I’m always honored when you approve of my creative efforts. Your friendship has enabled me to think more outside of the box, explore outside my comfort zone. The song is incredible, isn’t it? Sometimes sounds can be so inspirational, it doesn’t require much effort to compliment them with imagery, as was the case with this. Thank you sweet friend.

      1. Bless you my good friend. 🙂

The song is incredible and the sound and lyrics are catchy. 🙂 I agree sounds impact inspiration. Especially, when the sounds hit our synapses and that works within our mechanism to fuel more of that inspiration and creative juices that flow within our works. If that makes sense? 🙂

You are welcome my awesome friend. 🙂
