Defenseless

Lyrics:

Waking up
Thinking of what it is to be loved
Should I know
On my own, on a road
What it is to be loved?
You touched my skin, so warm but
Time is cold and trust me
I would know in my heart
I’m the half of a whole
And it’s making me feel so alone
Waking up
Thinking of what it is to be loved
I tell myself
I have to build defenses
‘Cause once you are in love
You are defenseless
Everything was easy when it meant less
But once you are in love
You are defenseless
Nobody knows me, nobody knows me
I’m never lonely
Until someone holds me
And it’s all just to show me
How it’s like to be loved
How it’s like to be loved
How it’s like to be loved
I take flight when you hold me
Is that how you show me
How it’s like to be loved?
How it’s like to be loved
Love, love, love
Love, love, love
Love, love, love
I tell myself I have to build defenses
‘Cause once I am in love I’ll be
Once I am in love
I’ll be defenseless
Once I am in love
I’ll be defenseless

    1. Absolutely. Raindrops on glass is a perfect analogy… I’m so glad you liked this song, Rachel. It reminded me of you on some level, in it’s tonality. I have long said that love is the ultimate vulnerability. So the chorus about being defenseless resonated with me ❤

      1. “love is the ultimate vulnerability” – so well said my gorgeous friend. I could not agree with you more. Raindrops on glass was something you said recently I think – it’s so beautiful I’ve assimilated it. You have an eye for beautiful things April ❤️

  1. Brilliant song! Tender yet bittersweet – it’s a huge step when you open up to people you love and voluntarily bare your vulnerabilities to their trust. As Rachel said – love the tripping rhythm coupled with the tinkling piano – can picture snowflakes gently drifting to earth. This really resonated with me. 🙂
