Jack Of All Trades

there is such a nonsense to us

a tepid little timepiece tucked away

on a tarnished chain it chandelier hangs

from a breast pocket precipice

reminding of vanity’s futility

of flattery and rabbit dander

because technically

nothing’s nonexistent

and everything’s contingent

on byproducts of subconscious

infatuation is both inherent and absent

when one desires without strings

waltzes still play on rainy days

improper fractions are their own language

waiting to be engraved

on the backs of copper locks

you see, there is much something

in that nothing, of you

for when the queen of diamonds

fell in love with a tyrant

he then became

the jack of all trades

Love this so much. It’s awesome how much desire can be immersed in rods that collect the electricity of time and age the rod in memory that bolts as it fastens another door.

    1. Sir Watt, I have the highest of respect for you as a writer and intellectual, so I am both humbled and outrageously complimented by your response to this little piece of whimsy. Clocks (and other keepers/inventions of “time”) have long been a fascination of mine. I’m glad you share in that reverence. Thank you, sincerely.

      1. P.S. I was thinking of putting together a short story of a vixen and wolf helping each other out of difficult situations, and was going to dedicate it to you & Mat. How does that sound? x

      2. Oh wow! I believe that both Mat and I would be immensely flattered by that!!! What a clever idea and how sweet of you, Tom. Mat and I fight like cats and dogs (or in this case – vixens and wolves!) but outside of that I know how much we both adore you and your writing so it would be an honor if you included us in any way in something you created. You’re such a thoughtful creature. ♥️♥️♥️

      3. Looking forward to it! I’m continuously humbled by how much you enjoy my stories & I felt this would be a great way to recognise such wonderful talent 🦊🐺 Really excited for it! ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. Hahahaha! How clever of you, Rob. It’s true. The Queen of Hearts takes off heads occasionally but she’s mostly just full hot air. The Queen of Diamonds can cut glass with just a single look and she’s got the figures to pay someone to make sure you’ll never be heard from again 😂🧨
