caged tigers

there are lessons in longing for greener grasses

sometimes ‘anything but’ overcomes ‘everything is’

under the guise of restless repose

we will ourselves to wandering

conned by curiosity and it’s coquettish curses

we seek innocuous overtures

oblivious to the unavailing

pining for the poetry of tedious phantoms

undressed by ungrateful temptations

we bask in the ire of emotional eunuchs

inciting sabotage by means of self loathing

all for the sake of alleviating smoldering boredom

and just like the laundering of love

lost causes wreck havoc

there is pandemonium in permanency

the absence of purpose preoccupies

like the pacing of caged tigers

  1. Loved this! You captured that restless emptiness of yearning for greener pastures in such beautiful flowing cadence – ‘all for the sake of alleviating smoldering boredom’ indeed! ‘Caged tigers’ is a brilliant metaphor! 🐯 🐅
    Another masterpiece.
