anything for a good time

the crucifix dangling in that crevice / guarding the gateway / at the rendezvous of his collarbones / when pressed just right / revealed a shiny little switchblade / protruding from the feet of Christ / and when he dared me / to trace my tongue along its length / I thought heaven help me /  but anything for a good time

"She would fill endless notebooks with stories about the characters in her life, their impressions, words, friends, lovers, inspirations, fantasies. She spent her days dreaming up worlds where they fit together in visions; the if only, the never again, the someday. Those who knew her best would describe her as a creature with a clear and sometimes painful sense of herself; furious with ideas and convictions, to a point that she frightened love away with discernment and a relentless strength of character."

  1. Your poems never cease to slink their way from my mind to my stomach and form a reaction. I really like this one – the imagery! The idea, for me, that to hang on the cliff side of safety is both dangerous and exhilarating.

One day I will have to pick your mind about these poems of yours.

    1. I am devilishly delighted by this feedback. I had a feeling you’d like this piece. It was inspired by an actual experience of mine…. but it’s definitely a reflection on the idea of toying with pleasure/pain and the lengths we go to indulging ourselves and others.
