cult following

he joined a cult

for the high functioning

took a seat at my table

and over coupe’s

of château latour

tried to convert me

he’s the type to bring

a knife to a gun fight

hasn’t realized

emotional brutality

sharpens blades

but results in bullet holes

he preaches incessantly

about the importance of

intellectual authenticity

autonomy mimicry

and vicious desperation

I pass the time

thumbing through

my holy scripture

the oxford thesaurus

and when

his zealot oration

fails to impress me

he wants to hurt me

so badly

calls me

a clever little replicator

pretty counterfeit bitch

and in doing so

proves my belief

his religion is

repulsive

this

a scene worthy of

standing ovations and

serotonin re-uptake inhibitor’s

and in the end

he’s king for a day

and a fool

for a lifetime

..

"She would fill endless notebooks with stories about the characters in her life, their impressions, words, friends, lovers, inspirations, fantasies. She spent her days dreaming up worlds where they fit together in visions; the if only, the never again, the someday. Those who knew her best would describe her as a creature with a clear and sometimes painful sense of herself; furious with ideas and convictions, to a point that she frightened love away with discernment and a relentless strength of character."

  1. Once, I encountered a this man who thought he was Jesus Christ, Thor, and many other mythical gods. He was trying to recruit me into his cult following of Jim Jones type of bullshit.

    I didn’t fall for it…because I can spot religious bullshit brainwash A-holes.

Anyway, long story short…I put him on the spot and he walked away and never said a word.

You nailed this poem right to the T. It’s something people should never fall into any type of deception. Love this poem with a passion. 🙂

    1. Haha, this is such a lovely comment. But I’ll share a little secret with you. This piece is not actually about religion. It’s about anyone who tries to get you to buy into their bullshit… Be that religion, employment, relationships. There’s con artists everywhere ❤
