Amnesty

he came to realize

she’d been leaving

tiny pieces of her heart behind

for someone else

to find

 a thinly veiled S.O.S

an emotional bread crumb trail

his absence

the inspiration for her dalliance

the flirtation and the fallacy

in truth

she deserved no amnesty

painted in the red hot pain

of his gaze

exposed and shameful

there was no beauty

in betrayal

he had every right

and every reason

to abandon those vows

in the face of her treason

and yet he chose to fight

 to stay

to suck the poison from the bite

and she knew in that moment

she never again

would stray

"She would fill endless notebooks with stories about the characters in her life, their impressions, words, friends, lovers, inspirations, fantasies. She spent her days dreaming up worlds where they fit together in visions; the if only, the never again, the someday. Those who knew her best would describe her as a creature with a clear and sometimes painful sense of herself; furious with ideas and convictions, to a point that she frightened love away with discernment and a relentless strength of character."
