Choose Wisely…

“Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.”

Proverbs 18:21

my words can be a valentine

or a death sentence

shall I recite poetry

or vote to convict

will you receive these gifts

or tempt the fates

my mouth can launch ships

or stir up hurricanes

shall I speak in lyrics

or whisper in warnings

my lips can be cupid’s bow

or poisonous arrows

shall I aim

for the heart

or the head

my confessions can be legacies

or lasting tragedies

shall I christen you

or compose a eulogy

my musings can be musical

or the marching at a funeral

will you hear the symphony

or the song of a siren

choose wisely

that version of me

may be the last thing

you see

"She would fill endless notebooks with stories about the characters in her life, their impressions, words, friends, lovers, inspirations, fantasies. She spent her days dreaming up worlds where they fit together in visions; the if only, the never again, the someday. Those who knew her best would describe her as a creature with a clear and sometimes painful sense of herself; furious with ideas and convictions, to a point that she frightened love away with discernment and a relentless strength of character."
